Bill Evans & Megan Lynch - Let's Do Something...
- “Let’s Do Something,” by Bill Evans and Megan Lynch, is a winning CD, made up of one great song after another, that serves as a clear reminder of just why bluegrass is still a beloved musical genre today.
By far the most recognizable track is a cover of Van Morrison’s “Into the Mystic,” which remains faithful to the original without losing its individuality, and whose chorus is a beautiful blend of both artists’ considerable vocal talents.
The instrumental “Sleeping Lady” lilts along sweetly, and features some terrific traditional “banjo pickin,’ “ while the version of “Check Yes Juliet” heard here may be jarring to some listeners who are used to the more modern rock version from We The Kings, but had me wishing more of today’s biggest hits would get the bluegrass treatment.
This CD is highly recommended for lovers of country music, bluegrass, pop – or anyone who just appreciates good, down-home music played by masterfully skilled musicians. Check it out – you’ll be glad you did.
