Got A Little Story
Her voice sounds more suited for country than jazz and it just didn't work. She's more Dolly Parton than Hello Dolly.
She's backed by capable musicians, but the music just doesn't mesh with the vocals. This is very evident on the first couple of tracks, although slightly less so on "And I Love Him," which is a gender-bending version of the Beatles' "And I Love Her," a jazzy spin on the Lennon-McCartney tune, which has long been one of my favorites.
The same goes for "He's A Tramp" as well as "One More for the Road," which is also faithful to the original, but here again one wishes the vocal had been stronger and more on par with singers like Sinatra who have tackled this classic in the past.
