Fifty Miles To Chicago

My reaction upon listening to Andrew Ripp's "Fifty Miles To Chicago" can be summed up in just one word: Wow.

What a truly great album this is! "Get Your Smile On" is fantastic and full of energy. "You Got My Number" has a driving beat, while "Tim's Song" is a sad yet meaningful lament that hits an emotional home run.

Each track here brings something different to the table. "The Privileged Life" is a stirring, relatable commentary on modern times, while "On My Way" makes for a great 'driving with the car top down' song. "Miracle of You" is reminiscent of Sting's "Shape of My Heart," with its classical guitar work, and "Dresden Wine" is hauntingly beautiful.

I found myself humming along by the end of this CD ? it is full of catchy songs that are easy to relate to, making it an enjoyable listen from start to finish. Throughout there are terrific lyrics, and every song left an impression. To quote one of the many noteworthy tracks on the album, "It's All Good."
