To Terrapin: May 28, 1977 Hartford

They're the Grateful Dead: how can you not like the album?

The Grateful Dead's three-part album of To Terrapin: May 28, 1977 Hartford is still as good as it ever was, a collection of live folksy proto-rock, something which sounds like it could be played on Mr. Jimmy Buffett's Sirius XM station (that station is great!)

As usual, the GD is easy listening, the type of music you'd load onto your mp3 player and take on down to the beach, perhaps while also reading a book.

There is something so indescribably relaxing about listening to this album. I wouldn't rush to jump on the "it takes you back to a better time" bandwagon, but it provides an alternative break from some of the faster-paced (but equally good) popular music of today. There is something very introspective, yet universally appealing to this album, with every song having an entirely different, yet cohesive, flavor.

Grateful Dead fans: You know what the music is. Grateful Dead novices: Pick up this album and find out why the Grateful Dead are still so ridiculously popular, decades later.
