Stadium Arcadium

This album hardly necessitates a review to justify its quality. Red Hot Chili Peppers have it down to a T. While I try to write about their music, I fear I could never come close to their own genius of poetry and harmony fused together. Here goes nothing. . . .

The drum beat is muffled to blend with the seductive, silky sound of guitar that gently pierces a medium of harmonic composure provided by bass and synthesizer, cooperatively.

Anthony Kiedis, Jack Irons, Hillel Slovak and Flea, the original crew, had been playing together since high school. Hillel Slovak, a member of the original crew, played with the band until 1988 when his untimely death devastated the band. Jack Irons, unable to cope, then decided to leave the band. Today the band consists of Anthony Kiedis and Flea of the originals, John Frusciante (guitarist) and Chad Smith (drummer). As Flea described, the new lineup is "tighter than a mosquito's asshole."

Red Hot Chili Peppers are just that, HOT. They have been perfecting their sound since the idea of this revolutionary band was conceived in 1983. In California, where the band began, the atmosphere was ripe for the likes of this rock and roll band with an alternative beat and a poetic style.

Album favorite? "If" I had a clue . . . I would choose this. Slower in tempo yes, but IF moving and satiating is what you thirst for, this song will deliver indeed.

Let them sing you to sleep, sing you awake, sing you alive. Red Hot Chili Peppers' Stadium Arcadium is an addition to your collection that will never be out of your stereo.
