The Very Best Things (1995-2008)

This compilation of greatest hits from the band, Filter, starts off with a bang - literally - as it opens with one of the more recognizable of their songs, "Hey Man Nice Shot," considered something of a modern day hard rock classic for its driving beat and controversial lyrics. And while it may not be the most politically correct composition in recorded history, well, since when is rock interested in being PC?

"Jurassitol" might strike some people at first as a loud, raucous noisemaker of a song and nothing more, but listen all the way through and you'll hear some insightful lyrics.

"Soldiers of Misfortune" is a bit reminiscent of U2's recent work, with its social message. Their cover of Three Dog Night's "One (Is the Loneliest Number)" can only be described as inspired genius. My personal favorite, however, has long been "Take a Picture," which is a huge departure from their harder edge sound that still remains true to their rock roots.

If you're a Filter fan or just a hard rock aficionado, you'll definitely agree that this collection represents some of the very best things indeed.
