Let's Make a Scene
Ashbury's Let's Make a Scene carries on the rock tradition and has the makings of future rock royalty, with polished and meticulously crafted songs that tell the story of who this band is, where they have been, and where they're going.
"Off with the Lights" is a rocker that bursts out of the starting gate with a dose of high energy, while the title track has elements of Boys Like Girls or Fall Out Boy, infused with vibrance and a joy that is infectious.
"Under Your Skin" is like early Maroon 5 (in the style of "Harder to Breathe") with awesome chord changes and breathy, smooth vocals. And "Figure Me Out" turns it down just a notch but still delivers, even if it is a cookie-cutter, stylized pop song.
There are any number of adjectives I can use to describe Let's Make a Scene, but they all seem unnecessary in the face of such a consummately professional recording. So I will simply say that I love this EP and leave it at that.
