Ben Kweller - Changing Horses
- Changing Horses is the most recent album from Ben Kweller. This album takes on a much more countrified tone than his previous albums.

Nowhere is this more evident than in the first track on the album, “Gypsy Rose.” This song is a ballad to a woman who changes the singer’s life. The song has a slow beat, mingled with a bouncy guitar line, which takes on a distinctly country twang.

The best track on the album has to be “Fight.” The song details the struggles of several people and how they overcome them by just pushing through them. On the choruses, a whole group of voices join in. This is a song I’d expect to be a standard in any roadhouse or juke joint.

“Homeward Bound” is the final track on the album, and also has the most emotional depth to it. The story of a man journeying home evokes the spirits of Paul Simon and James Taylor.

Ben Kweller stepped outside his comfort zone when he made this album. I think maybe he should step outside of it a little more often.
