The Game made his mainstream debut, The Documentary, in 2005, through Aftermath/G-Unit/Interscope Records as the West Coast brand of 50 Cent's G-Unit rap group. Following a public feud, the G-Unit General discharged the Game from his rap group about one month after he released his debut. He released his second album, Doctor's Advocate, in 2006, through Geffen/Interscope Records, sans G-Unit.

On Aug. 26, 2008, the Game released his third solo album, LAX, through Geffen/Interscope Records. LAX is his third consecutive No. 1 album on the U.S. Billboard Top Rap Albums chart. The record features production from Kanye West, Scott Storch, Cool & Dre, Just Blaze and Timbaland.

The Game is never afraid to speak his mind. His distinct gruff, passionate voice is engaging on the Lil' Wayne-assisted "My Life." The Game laments, "Take me away, like I overdosed on cocaine/Or take me away, like a bullet from Kurt Cobain."

He is brash and belligerent on the Travis Barker-assisted "Dope Boys." The Game commands a quasi-rock beat mixed with head-bobbing syncopation and thumping drums. At the end of the first verse, the Game hollers, "The world is my grandma's kitchen/Time to cook crack!"

He can also make catchy, melodic tracks, as displayed on the Bilal-assisted "Cali Sunshine." He discusses his rough Compton upbringing and paints a vivid picture of his hometown.

Over the grimmer "LAX Files," the Game growls over dramatic gongs and intricate high-pitch piano keys. He raps, "Come to my hood, hood/Look at my block, block/That's that project building, yeah, that's where I got shot, shot."

The Game loses focus when he reverts to his past beef with 50 Cent. Three years after being kicked out of G-Unit, he still throws cheap shots. On the clich? song, "Money," the Game proclaims, "I'm about a dollar/50 Cent ain't real."

The Game is known for shouting out names, but on "Never Can Say Goodbye" he goes as far as rapping as another rapper. He embarrassingly tries to embody the Notorious B.I.G. in a whole verse. Emulating his flow, the Game says, "Kim, tell Cease get the f****n' truck we
