The Doors - The Future Starts Here: The Essential Doors Hits
- For any music aficionado that has never sat down and listened to The Doors, besides on the radio, then "The Future Starts Here" is a great place to begin.

This is not only one of the most unique bands to come out of the 1960s – blending blues, poetry, jazz, flamenco and rock – but also one of the most talented and innovative.

As for front men of rock bands Jim Morrison is iconic. He stands along side the immortal ghosts of Jimi Hendrix, Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Frank Sinatra, and Elvis Presley.

The great thing about this record is that it concisely puts The Doors’ best material on one disc and gives the listener a wide array of songs from various albums.

A favorite inclusion of mine would have to be "Love Street" which appears in Oliver Stone's movie about the band with Val Kilmer, and on "Waiting for the Sun" but usually misses "Greatest Hits" or "Essential" collections.

The album opens with the first song on The Doors' first album, "Break On Through," an invitation for those seeking enlightenment in the transforming environment that was the 1960s. The album closes suitably with "The End" also from their first album but unforgettable and a staple at the end of almost every Doors live performance.
