Despite not being a real band, Dethklok totally rocks. DK is a virtual heavy-metal band created by Brendan Small for his late night cartoon "Dethklok Metalocalypse," which follows the band as they, well, hang out. People who watch the show have noticed that although the show is a comedy show, the music on the show is actually pretty good. The response was so strong that Brendan Small released an album, "The Dethalbum." The lyrics, though goofy, are not so different from something one would hear written by Dio. Of course, as the lead singer Nathan Exxplosion says on the show, "No one can understand what I'm saying anyway." The quality of the vocals is okay. Usually music like this is accompanied by a more monstrous growl, and while the vocals rumble, they are certainly not like the bestial bellows one might hear on a cannibal corpse.
The band's sound is that of a melodic death metal band. The music carries the heavy shuffle beat lead by bass and drums, while the guitars dance over them. If the guitar lines are reminiscent of violins in classical music, it should be. Undoubtedly, metal music is influenced by classical. This is a totally standard metal album. Lets not forget of course, this is a joke. As such, some songs grow stale, and I don't think anyone would find it wither funny enough or musically interesting enough to listen to the album all the way through.
