Ginuwine -
- For R&B singer Ginuwine, 13 years in the music business has resulted in a quite enjoyable and mature sounding disc that separates the 33-year old singer from the rest of his younger, and often graphic, competition. After such a career, Ginuwine offer’s "A Man’s Thoughts," a collection of heartfelt ballads that show tremendous growth and comfort from the singer.
It’s not all grown-folk music. The disc starts off with a bang with “Show Off” an ode to the female body. Bun B then provides the only rap cameo on “Trouble,” a bouncy jam that celebrates those girls that have the T-word written all over them. He’s even assisted by party starters Timbaland and Missy Elliot on the robotic “Get Involved.”
But the rest of "A Man’s Thoughts" predominantly slow jams that show Ginuwine reaching out with sincerity. “Touch Me” shows Ginuwine emersed in the middle of great song writing, beat making, and singing. “Last Chance” is a similar story.
Ginuwine sings the smooth as silk bridge with infectious melody. “If this your favorite song / Turn your radio on / Play for your man or your lady all day long.”
On the same song, the singer references Michael Jordan’s playoff performance in 1992. “Then Call me Jordan, fourth quarter in ’92.” Jordan was the finals MVP that year, and Ginuwine shines just as bright on "A Man’s Thoughts."
Oh, and Chris Brown was just three years old in 1992. Ginuwine shows enough experience and talent to carry this, his sixth disc. The album is good indicator as to what one can expect. It's the reflections and thoughts of one of R&B’s grown-up leaders.
