Forever in a Day

Most would say that releasing another album less than a year after releasing its debut album makes a group successful, but for Day 26, it could mean trying to stay relevant in today's music industry.

Watching the show, "Making the Band," a lot of people were wondering if they were going to make it. The band was doing more fighting than singing, but they managed to pull it off. One might add, with a decent album. Releasing the first single, dance track "Imma Put It on Her," is getting the fans ready for what the music industry calls the "sophomore jinx." Now, the groups second single, "Girlfriend," is still just giving the fans a taste of what is on the album.

Although it could have been better, it still doesn't outweigh the fact that they had good production, from the likes of Jermaine Dupri, Bryan-Michael Cox and Ne-Yo, and it has even better vocal performances.

There are a lot of ballads on the album that will catch the listener's attention, like "Bipolar" and "Perfectly Blind." The ballads, although smooth, are heart-wrenching, almost stripping themselves down to nothing. The vocal performances are so raw that a listener has no choice but to feel what these five young men are singing about.

Now, everyone knows that being signed to Diddy's Bad Boy record label is not a walk in the park and that he puts an enormous amount of pressure on his artists, but one thinks it might have paid off. I don't think it paid off for the group the way they wanted it to, but it's better than having a total flop.
