The Script
The Script, an Irish trio with melodic music, came out with their self-titled debut album last year. For a freshman album, The Script has made a great first impression.
The beats are smooth. The songs are catchy in a soulful way. The band has found a way to combine blues, soul, pop and some hip-hop beat. Their songs are meaningful with lyrics about heartache, bad areas, stuck people and life lessons. Listening to the music there is a connection, yet the message never feels forced.
The singer, Danny O'Donoghue, has an expressive voice that brings out more of Mark Sheehan's guitar and Glen Power's drums.
The Script does use the "f" word in two of their songs. It took careful listening for me to find where it was used. If you are sensitive to foul language, you may want to sample them or the songs that use it before you buy the album. It is used once in the songs "Fall for Anything" and "We Cry." I feel it is used to bring attention to the story told by the lyrics. It is not something I noticed or I would hold against the band after listening.
I am glad the band has found a place across the Atlantic and I hope The Script is here to stay.
