Before writing this review, I had never heard of Diamond Rio. But when I began listening to their new album, "The Reason," I knew why they were so popular. From the moment the first song and title track begins, the listener is drawn in with a melodic piano. As I began listening to the rest of the album, I realized they expertly blended country with Christian, with songs such as "God Is There," "My God Does," and "In God We Still Trust." The album is full of ballads and upbeat songs, such as "This Is My Life," which boasts an extremely catchy chorus.
The band, whose first album was released in 1991, went on to have nine number one hits on the country music scene. In addition to their new album, they have released a biography, entitled "Beautiful Mess: The Story of Diamond Rio."
"A lot of people are struggling out there," said lead singer Marty Roe on their Web site, DiamondRio.com. "We hope that in some way our story will help encourage them." Fans of both country and Christian music will find enjoyment with this new album from mega-artists Diamond Rio.
