Jordin is a shoo-in to win it tomorrow.
Last night was a showdown between performance and singing, with beat-boxing Blake representing for all wannabe teen hipsters out there, and Jordin Sparks representing for all the wannabe teen Mariahs.

The final four was less than impressive, but Barry Gibb sure loved Jordin.
The good news is that America chose the right final four. The bad news is that they didn't deliver. Last night should have been the equivalent of an NBA playoff atmosphere for the Idols, but instead it felt like we were back in week two, struggling with easy songs and trying to find our groove....

Bon Jovi week "blew it out the box." as Randy would say.
Who would have thought that Bon Jovi week would rock? Certainly not me - I can confess to raising my eyebrows a little when I found out that Idol had devoted an entire theme week to the music of an eighties rock icon who was more famous for his hair than his singing. But after last night, I must...

The "All I Wanna Do" singer has a new cause, and she's not afraid to confront the big guys about it.
Newly active environmentalist Sheryl Crow is all about the green lately, and she's willing to stand up to some big shots to get her message out there. The New York Post reports that Crow got into a mini-brawl this weekend at the famously irreverent White House Correspondent's dinner with none...

His time has come.
Sanjaya has finally sung his last tune on American Idol, just in the nick time to save the credibility of the show. Some would speculate that Sanjaya's ousting was a conspiracy theory, but I think that his rousingly off-key performance of "Something to Talk About," Wednesday, was proof enough that...

It may be Simon's least favorite week, but this year country music is the most successful theme week yet.
Thankfully for the American Idol contenders, country songs are easy to sing. As a result of this simplicity and with absolutely no help from lackluster Martina McBride, country week went remarkably well for the remaining seven. I'll begin by talking about Melinda, who turned in the best...

Haley Scarnato and those endlessly long legs will no longer grace the Idol stage.
So much for a moratorium on Haley showing her gams and the judges talking about her appearance. She's gone now, and self-respecting women will no longer have to endure the queasy battle they had every week between hating the judges for objectifying her and hating Haley for refusing to demand that...

J-Lo doesn't do much to help the Idols deliver the sizzle on Latin night.
Things are quickly spinning out of control this season for American Idol. With the untimely departure of Gina Glocksen, the Idol universe is all out of whack. I understand that in seasons past there have been shockers - Tamyra's ousting in favor of the less talented (and much reviled in Idol...

The boys make an admirable attempt to redeem themselves after their failure last week.
With the threat of elimination looming over them like a guillotine, the boys of American Idol finally stopped worrying about the details and launched into an all out race to save their lives. In my book, there are only three (at most four) possible elimination choices tonight, including one...

American Idol offers up perhaps the best, and most heartbreaking, Hollywood Week ever.
The time we've all been waiting for has come. The warbling jokesters will soon be a distant memory, replaced by the consistently broken dreams of genuinely talented individuals who came within inches of success and had to endure a plummeting fall. No one was safe from this in Hollywood as the...
