A legend within its genre.
Poetic Justice starring Janet Jackson, Tupac Shakur, Regina King and Joe Torry, is "a street romance" centering on the lives of two couples as they travel from L.A. to Oakland in a postage truck. The plot is brilliant in its simplicity -... merely the happenings of a road trip along the California...

Easily the best July 4th blockbuster since ID4.
Michael Bay has proven once again that he's an action maestro. "Transformers" starring Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox and a boatload of autonomous robots is the best July 4th blockbuster since "Independence Day." And it's for everyone from die-hard Transformer fans to people who just thought this flick...

A truly memorable and provocative film; McConaughey's best work.
A Time to Kill starring Matthew McConaughey, Samuel L. Jackson, Sandra Bullock & Kevin Spacey is controversial, provocative, timeless, and an instant classic. After his ten-year-old daughter is brutally raped by a gang of white men, Carl Lee Hailey (Jackson) kills the men himself, accidentally...

The funniest girls' night in flick in a while.
"40 Days & 40 Nights” starring Josh Hartnett, Shannyn Sossamon and Paulo Costanzo is the ultimate "girls night in" movie, full of scenes to make you giggle, swoon, throw refreshments at the television, and laugh out loud til the very end.

All the right ingredients for a film noir with none of the chemistry.
The Black Dahlia starring Josh Hartnett, Aaron Eckhart, Scarlett Johansson and Hilary Swank is a typical film noir...based in 1940s "classic" Hollywood. It is full of starlets and handsome leading men, and abundant in smoky-voiced voice-overs. All those essential elements (and a brilliant director...

An underrated comedy flick overflowing with Southern charm.
Doc Hollywood starring Michael J. Fox, Julie Warner and Woody Harrelson centers on a young doctor (Fox) on the way to a big interview in the "big city," who causes an accident in a small town and is sentenced to work in the town's hospital. While there he finds love with one of the locals (Warner...

One of the more charmingly executed 1980s rom-coms.
One of my favorite 1980s movies is "Secret Admirer" starring C. Thomas Howell, Kelly Preston & Lori Loughlin. Michael (Howell) gets an anonymous love note and suspects it's from his dream girl, Deborah Ann Fimple (Preston), when it's actually from his best friend, Toni (Loughlin).

A mere echo of Ryan & Hanks's earlier and more successful collaborations.
Meg Ryan was the reigning "Queen of Rom-Coms" for good reason-...she was charismatic, humorous, and attractive in a wholesome way that appealed to millions. This worked wonders in "French Kiss," "I.Q.," and "When Harry Met Sally." Tom Hanks was more into dramas, with two Oscars and a long list of...

A quiet, underrated comedy by Keaton & MacDowell.
Multiplicity, starring Michael Keaton & Andie MacDowell is a refreshing morsel of a movie by director, Harold Ramis. Spread too thin between family and work obligations Doug Kinney (Keaton) has experimental clone surgery done to give himself more quality time. Each clone has a personality of...

A day in the life of clueless teenagers who make bad decisions that end terribly.
While "Alpha Dog," starring Emile Hirsch, Anton Yelchin and Justin Timberlake, caused a big stir at Sundance. I felt the film didn't quite live up to its hype.Anton Yelchin was the shining light of the film, portraying a fifteen-year-old patsy in a plot that would inevitably lead to his death. He...
