JT Leroy is a woman named Samantha Knopf or something
Continuing my Asia Argento story, I met her at the 2004 (not 2003) Toronto Film Fest for her premiere of THE HEART IS DECEITFUL ABOVE ALL THINGS which is based on a JT Leroy/Laura Albert novel. This is before the minor art world scandal. I saw JT Leroy at the pre-screening Q&A, and he played...

Toronto Film Fest #2 pecker
Continuing my story, another person I encountered and met at the Toronto Film Fest was John Waters, there to promote his (ghastly) film A DIRTY SHAME.I met him at his hotel lobby; he was quite friendly, as a young girl and her mother approached him for a photo. He obliged, and the woman must have...

Windows has another crack and there is no patch ready to send.
Again the public is faced with a problem in the Windows operating system. A few days ago it was announced by Microsoft that the "best operating system in the world" has another flaw but the solution, a patch, was not yet ready. That's like ringing the alarm bell for a fire but there is no water......

The World of Art, from Aboriginal to American Pop, Renaissance Masters to Postmodernism.
I have always thought of 'Art' as being like a collection of family photos that inspire reminiscences of both time and place. 'This is a picture taken at Uncle Hieronymus's New Years Eve party last year,' or 'Look, here's one Samba took of Mom and Dad.' In his book, The World of Art, Dr. Robert...

Not just any worker, but from the point of view of the town Coroner! Meinhardt Raabe opens his life story and shows how it intersected with the movie...

You bought a digital, now what do you do with it?
About ten years ago I gave up film and went digital. It made things a lot cheaper and increased my profits on photography assignments. While I was doing work only a few notches above family photos, I was still making money. Go out take the picture; here's a few bucks. Just a part time job, how good...

Ian captains the team and provides the keystone motivation. If there is only one album of Jethro Tull to get this year, this may be it. It is the interweaving of an orchestra with the musical agility of Ian Anderson to form a tapestry in the mind. Prior attempts are made more obvious as mere...

I've read the reviews about the The Alternate Routes, and I listened to each number on this CD. Two songs: the first "Ordinary" and the last "Please Don't Lie" show off the ability of the writer and the musician to merge two crafts in to a single medium. In between we have a head banger band trying...

This is a subway car listening album! This is a "get out on the open track and take off" disc. Loud, LoudER, LOUDEST. Pseudo-Prince to Island fun. These are my happy ears smiling all over town. The big show off! The variety of musical arrangements is presented here like a meal only there are 12...

Two distinct musical styles in a single album give an opportunity to compare musical growth. From underground folkie to boarder line new age, Syd matters shows a variety of style and sensitivity to lyrics and music. The first "Someday we will foresee obstacles" is a sort of low light make out music...
