‘The Kids in the Hall’ Return to TV

Five-Man comedy troupe to star in IFC mini-series

Canadian comedy troupe The Kids in the Hall is returning to TV for the first time since they called it quits in the mid-‘90s with a mini-series entitled Death Comes to Town.

Bruce McCulloch, Mark McKinney, Kevin McDonald, Dave Foley, and Scott Thompson will reunite for the first time since their most recent tour in 2008. This time, the Kids find themselves in a small town murder mystery. Each of the five comedians plays multiple roles, sometimes in the same scene requiring several hours to get into costume and makeup.

Bruce McColloch, who plays the mayor of Shuckton, commented, “It hasn't changed over 30 years, has it?... It was a grueling pleasure. It took a long time ... day after day it closes in on you,” reports USA Today.

They will star in eight half-hour episodes beginning Friday night on IFC. Instead of gag sketches, Death Comes to Town will have a unified plot with distinct characters, such as the Grim Reaper (played by Mark McKinney).

The Kids in the Hall: Death Comes to Town premieres August 20 at 10pm with back-to-back episodes on IFC.
