‘Avatar’ To Be Released On DVD On Earth Day

The popular 3-D motion picture will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on April 22nd

Fox Home Entertainment announced on Tuesday that James Cameron’s Avatar will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray on Earth Day, April 22.

The record-breaking film has generated $2.6 billion worldwide since its theatrical release on December 18, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Avatar has been the talk of the town amongst spectators at the ShoWest convention of movie theater operators due to its innovation and the amount of revenue that is has brought in.

EOnline.com is reporting that the DVD release for the film will not contain any bonus features, uncut footage or other appealing additional add-ons, which may come as a surprise to enthusiasts who were hoping for never before seen footage from the filmmaking process.

Fox Home Entertainment announced that while the DVD and Blu-ray editions of Avatar would be made available for purchase on April 22 in the United States and Canada, it would be released internationally between April 21 and May 6.

According to BusinessWeek.com, News Corp. is expected to earn between $350 million and $400 million as a result of the television and DVD release of the film.
