Peter Sarsgaard in talks to play villain in the upcoming “Green Lantern” film.

With filming starting soon, Warner Brothers is trying to finish up casting for their upcoming flick, “Green Lantern,” based on the DC Comics superhero. Martin Campbell will direct this big budget film. The film already has Ryan Reynolds on board as the lead, Hal Jordan a.k.a. the Green Lantern, a test pilot who gains powers from a mystical green ring. “Gossip Girl’s” Blake Lively will play his love interest, Carol Ferris.

Sarsgaard is set to show his evil side as the villain, Dr. Hector Hammond, a pathologist who gains psychic powers when he comes into contact with a meteor.

Sarsgaard, who is married to Maggie Gyllenhaal, recently starred in the highly talked about “An Education,” opposite Carey Mulligan, which has been receiving major Oscar buzz. He also starred opposite Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz in “Knight and Day,” which is set to be released later this year.
