‘Harry Potter’ Star Radcliffe Lands Lead Role in ‘Woman in Black’

The boy wizard will take a horror turn in his latest film

Daniel Radcliffe may have left the wand and robe behind when production for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows wrapped, but the former boy wizard isn’t done dealing with the supernatural.

According to BBC News, the star recently signed on to play the lead role in The Woman in Black, a horror film based on Susan Hill’s best-selling novel. Radcliffe will play a young lawyer who becomes entangled in a hostage plot involving ghosts.

Kick-Ass writer Jane Goldman penned the script for the new film, while Eden Lake’s James Watkins will direct.

"I am incredibly excited to be part of The Woman in Black," Radcliffe said. "Jane Goldman's script is beautifully written - both tender and terrifying in equal measure."

Radcliffe also plans to return to Broadway next spring, starring in the musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. He made his Broadway debut in Peter Shaffer’s Equus in 2008.

The last two Potter installments, parts one and two of The Deathly Hallows, will be released in fall 2010 and summer 2011, respectively.
