‘Lost’ actor to join ‘Hawaii Five-O’ remake

Daniel Dae Kim has already been tapped for a lead role on the remake of the CBS crime drama Hawaii Five-O.

Lost's Daniel Dae Kim will be staying in Hawaii after his six-season stint on the popular mystery drama wraps in May because he has landed a lead role on the CBS remake of the renowned crime drama Hawaii Five-O, which will also film on the islands.

According to an article on HollywoodReporter.com, “In CBS' updated take on the classic cop series, from CBS Studios, Kim will play Detective Chin Ho Kelly, a role played in the original series by Kam Fong.”

As for the other roles, the part of Detective Steve McGarrett has not been cast yet, but Alex O'Loughlin, the star of the cancelled CBS vampire drama “Moonlight,” is engaged in negotiations for the role.

The modernized version of the series comes from Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, the co-creators of the Fox science fiction drama “Fringe” and "CSI: NY" executive producer/co-showrunner Peter Lenkov.

Kim is the first actor from the show’s cast to land a role on a new series this pilot season. Kim plays Jin Kwon on the ABC mystery drama that has run for six seasons and will air its series finale in May.

The HollywoodReporter.com article goes on to say that, “Getting key ‘Lost’ players to do pilots this season is proving tricky as ABC's drama doesn't wrap its final season until April. In Kim's case, it helped that both ‘Lost’ and ‘Hawaii Five-O’ are filming in Hawaii.’”

Kim’s has made his presence known on both the small and big screens. His previous television credits include starring in several episodes of the NBC medical drama “ER” and the Fox action drama “24.” He has also appeared on the silver screen in 2004’s “Spider-Man 2” and the 2005 Academy Award winning Best Picture “Crash.”
