‘Scrubs’ Recap: Laughter is the Best Medicine

It may be hell week on this episode of Scrubs, but it is the opposite of that for the viewers.

“Our Group Leaders” followed the medical students as they worked through a case study, all while trying to maintain good group dynamics. Drew, played by Michael Mosley, is the leader of the group, and by Dr. Cox’s (John C. McGinley) orders, he had to try to stay away while the others solved the problem.

Lucy, played by Kerry Bishé, tried to take the spot as the leader, but this horse-loving, neurotic girl let the power go to her head, and went a little crazy on another group member, Trang (Matthew Moy). While those two were struggling for power, Cole, played by James Franco’s younger brother, Dave Franco, was sent on ridiculous tasks around the hospital in his new wheelie shoes.

While the med students were trying to work together, Dr. Turk (Donald Faison) was trying to stay on top of surgery when a visiting surgeon, Dr. Russell Vaughn (Reno Wilson), came in and outshined him. While Turk was trying to outdo Vaughn, he had Cole beat box, and ended up pulling a hamstring while trying to bust a move.

This episode of Scrubs had its usual amount of great one-liners, pop culture references, and other hilarious jokes, but it also had a serious side to it, showing the love story pan out between Drew and Denise (Eliza Coupe).

While the ninth season of Scrubs was a new start for the show, taking it out of the hospital and into the classroom, it still has the same wonderful qualities the first eight seasons of the show had, while putting a new spin on a medical comedy sitcom.
