The Transportation Security Administration’s polarizing pat-down policy being enforced at airports across the country has drawn the ire of those who feel the too close for comfort groping practices are an invasion of privacy.
During this past weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live, which was hosted by Love and Other Drugs' Anne Hathaway, the security measure was mocked in a skit that featured cast members taking part in a parody of a late-night sex hotline advertisement.
Kristen Wiig, Abby Elliot, and Nasim Pedrad acted as scantily-clad TSA employees who promoted the new procedures as ways for lonely travelers to “get contact in certain special places,” CBS News reports.
“Feeling lonely this holiday season?” Wiig inquired before Abby Eliot asked, “Looking for a little human interaction?”
Pedrad continued the theme of the faux “Message from the TSA” sketch by asking, “Do you want to feel contact in special places?”
SNL cast member Keenan Thompson, dressed as a TSA agent, recommended, “Then why not go through security at an airport?”
While Saturday Night Live made light of the polarizing policy, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton addressed public backlash during her appearance on CBS’s Face the Nation over the weekend.
“I understand how difficult it is, and how offensive it must be for the people who are going through it,” she acknowledged.
