‘Tron’ Coming Soon to a Theater Near You
For anyone not familiar with the original Tron movie, the recently released trailer for Tron Legacy may be a bit confusing. Though obviously it looks to be action packed, the trailer doesn’t give away too much of what’s really going on, so here are a few details to get people excited for the movie’s December 17 release date:
For starters, recent Oscar Best Actor winner Jeff Bridges is back to reprise his role as Kevin Flynn, a hacker/arcade owner who is broken down into molecules and transported to and imprisoned in the computer world of Tron by a software pirate. This all happens in the original film from 1982.
The upcoming film will focus on Kevin’s son, Sam Flynn, who is apparently going to follow in his father’s footsteps. While looking into his father’s disappearance, Sam somehow finds himself in the computer generated world that his father is inhabiting, and the pair team up to take on evil forces.
Steven Lisberger, the director of the first film, is also on board for this one as a writer and, though the studio has tried to keep the plot pretty simple, you can expect some good visuals, cool gadgets, and 3-D format.
Garrett Hedlund, who was recently in contention for the role of Captain America, will play Bridges’ on-screen son.
