Green Day is in the works to transform their career into a video game.
In 2010 Harmonix will release a special version of “Rock Band” that deals solely with Green Day songs, reports MTV. Representatives of the game-maker announced the deal at the 2009 Video Game Awards on Saturday.
Now, gamers can play select songs from the group’s album “21st Century Breakdown,” on the regular version of “Rock Band.” Billie Joe Armstrong, the lead singer, feels the new version will be greatly appreciated by Green Day fans.
“We want people to fire this up, choose their favorite Green Day tracks and play along with us as ‘Rock Band’ avatars so they can feel what it’s like to perform onstage as Green Day.”
In addition to singing, players will also be able to see venues and artwork that were influential on the musician’s careers.
“Green Day: Rock Band” will be available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii next year.
The group also announced that gamers will be able to download three more of their songs for “Rock Band.” “Christian’s Inferno,” “Last of the American Girls,” and “Viva La Gloria,” will be available on Tuesday.
