The oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is not only affecting the animals and people in that area, but the entire United States. This disaster has led to thousands of people making an effort to help out.
CNN is joining in on trying to raise funds to help this situation. Monday night, CNN and Larry King are presenting a telethon called Disaster in the Gulf: How You Can Help to benefit these victims. This two-hour special edition episode of Larry King Live will include visits from many celebrities, including Justin Bieber, Ted Danson, Cameron Diaz, Randy Jackson, Robert Redford, Deepak Chopra, Kathy Griffin, Lenny Kravitz, Tim McGraw and more. Recording artist Sting is scheduled to give a special performance.
These special celebrity guests will visit the show both on set and by satellite. They will also participate in the television show’s telephone banks, which will be taking viewers calls.
Ryan Seacrest will be hosting “an online suite for viewers using social media like Facebook.”
Disaster in the Gulf: How You Can Help aims to raise funds for the United Way, National Wildlife Federation and the Nature Conservancy.
