“Saturday Night Live” Pulls Brittany Murphy Impersonations Off Web Sites
Hulu, a website that hosts many TV episodes and TV clips, has removed a skit from “Saturday Night Live” that mocked Brittany Murphy in the wake of her death.
Two weeks ago Abby Elliott mocked Brittany Murphy, portraying her stumbling onto the set of the show’s joke news segment, “Weekend Update.” The skit dealt with Murphy’s abrupt exit from the movie “The Caller.”
“It was reported this week that actress Brittany Murphy was fired from her upcoming film, ‘The Caller,’ for being a detriment to production,” said Seth Meyers during the skit. “And…oh nooo,” he continues, as she comes on stage next to him. Elliott comes on as a very loopy-looking Murphy, talking about how she was fired from the movie, “I got a plan. When the movie comes out, I’m going to go to the theater and say ‘Boooo.’ And then the audience will join in and say, ‘Boo’… Best plan ever.”
In the background of the skit the audience can be hear laughing, but because of Murphy’s shocking death Sunday night, the humor is no longer apparent.
This clip used to be hosted on Hulu.com, but now reads “Unfortunately, this video is no longer available.”
Murphy stared in many films, including “Clueless,” “Girl, Interrupted,” and “8 Mile,” and died Sunday night at age 32 due to cardiac arrest.
