1 Murdered and 5 Injured at a Strip Club in Springfield

One person was killed and five were injured on Saturday in a Massachusetts Strip Club, according to Fox News. Marcus Blanton, 24, used a semiautomatic pistol in Club 418 to kill one man and injure four more. An additional victim was found with a stab wound (Fox News).

The Boston Globe reports that Blanton allegedly tossed away a handgun as the police approached him near Worthington Street. Multiple sources quote Springfield police Lieutenant John Bobianski as saying that the accused "came out of the bathroom and just started shooting." Accordingly, a motive has yet to be discovered.

Blanton will be arraigned on Monday in District Court on numerous charges including murder and assault (Mass Live.com). The Republican quoted Springfield Detective Sergeant Roy H. Carter, saying, "Although we arrested the person, the investigation always continues."

Unfortunately, this event is hardly shocking news, marking the city's seventh homicide of the year and the second at a strip club.
