2 Billion Watched the Olympics' Opening Ceremonies
Experts predicted a higher-than-usual number for the amount of people who tuned into the opening ceremonies Friday night, but no one could have predicted this big of a number.
According to the Nielsen company, two billion television viewers tuned into the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony.
The data was collected from 38 different markets, and was particularly high in Asia - where 5 in 10 watched the breathtaking ceremonies. And considering that China (1.3 billion) and India (1.1 billion) are in Asia, one can start to comprehend why this number is so high.
In China, 63 percent of the audience tuned into watch the Olympics; 44 percent in South Korea.
In Europe, 30 percent tuned in. And in North America, the continent with the most options on TV, 24 percent watched.
