2009 MTV Movie Awards Recap

Twilight, unsurprisingly, racks up most honors at the MTV Movie Awards.

The 2009 MTV Movie Awards began with host Andy Samberg's humorous spoof montage featuring a reworking of clips from "Slumdog Millionaire," "The Reader," "Twilight," "Star Trek," and ending with a run-in with real life pal Justin Timberlake. His opening monologue had him poking fun at Kiefer Sutherland's "punching people" and jokingly accusing "Gossip Girl" star Leighton Meester of farting a lot. Samberg began a possible joke for Meghan Fox who gave him an evil glare, so he just said she's ugly.

Presented by Chris Pine and Anna Faris, the first award for Breakthrough Female went to Ashley Tisdale from "High School Musical 3," who was pitted against her costar Vanessa Hudgens and the empire that is Miley Cyrus.

Shia LaBeouf followed a clip of the new "Transformers 2" with his presentation of the Best Fight award to "Twilight" stars Robert Pattinson and Cam Gigandet.

Then, Samberg teamed up with Will Ferrell for a comedic song called "Cool Guys Don't Look at Explosions," played over a montage of action sequences.

Jonah Hill joked with Vanessa Hudgens about the possibility of his being her boyfriend if he had really been cast opposite her in the "High School Musical" franchise before presenting the Breakthrough Male award to Pattinson.

The next "Harry Potter" was teased, Sacha Baron Cohen's "Bruno" fell on a surprised and infuriated Eminem, who stormed out of the studio, and Zac Efron accepted the Best Male Actor award after Bruno's harried announcement, but all in a night's work for MTV.

Co-stars in this year's "The Proposal" Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds presented Best Kiss to Pattinson and Kristen Stewart who pretended but didn't actually recreate their award-winning kiss.

Jim Carrey then requested Samberg perform his hit digital shorts, and though he insisted the night was all about film, LeAnn Rimes, Chris Issac and Forest Whitaker performed a classically melodic medley of the songs.

To round out the awards: Amy Poehler won the WTF Moment, Miley Cyrus won Best Song for "The Climb," Best Comedic Performance went to Jim Carrey, and the most-talked about acceptance was that of Kristen Stewart for Best Female Performance, where she dropped her award.

The most talked about and anticipated moment of the Awards was the first clip from "New Moon," the sequel to "Twilight," which showed Edward leaving Bella in the forest and Jacob's transformation into the werewolf he becomes. "Twilight" won Best Movie to make a total of five awards.

To mock the Oscars, Zac Ephron, Kiefer Sutherland and Triumph the Dog paid tribute to Ben Stiller for his Generation Award.

All in all, the Awards Show featured several surprises (not so much for the winners), and Samberg was a great host that gave the audience many laughs.
