Actress Sean Young, who appeared in Blade Runner and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, was placed under citizen’s arrest by security at Sunday night’s Governors Ball after the Oscars. She allegedly got into a fight with a security guard.
Sources told TMZ that Young allegedly got into a fight with a security guard at the ball, which is hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences itself. She was put under citizen’s arrest by security until LAPD arrived to take her to the local police station. The actress was then booked for misdemeanor battery.
TMZ later reported that the fight started when the security guard discovered that Young did not have a ticket. He put his hand on her arm and she slapped him. In an interview with TMZ, she blamed the arrest on the Academy’s lawyers. “So what this really means is the Academy recommends that its lawyers recommend that they be carted off to spend four hours at the Hollywood police station. Shame on [them] for that,” she told them in a video filmed Monday morning.
The Associated Press reported that she was held on $20,000 bail, which she posted. Police Sgt. Enrique Mendoza confirmed her arrest to the AP, but would give no further details.
Young has been involved in skirmishes in the past in Hollywood, notes People. Shortly after heckling the winner of the 2008 Directors Guild of America award, she entered rehab for alcoholism. Back in 2006, Entertainment Weekly reported that she tried to sneak into the Vanity Fair Oscars after party by sneaking in behind Jennifer Aniston. She was escorted out.
