Who better to write the forward for your book than your ex-wife? At least that’s what Billy Bob Thornton was thinking when he asked Angelina Jolie to help compose his memoir The Billy Bob Tapes: A Cave Full of Ghosts.

According to Amazon, Thornton’s book, set to hit shelves on May 15, tells “colorful tales of his modest (to say the least) Southern upbringing, his bizarre phobias (komoda dragons?), his life, his loves (including his heartbreakingly brief marriage to fellow Oscar winner Angelina Jolie), and, of course, his movie career.”

Jolie is one out of four celebrities that have joined forces with Thornton. His intriguing stories and thought-provoking rants are written as a dialogue between him and country music star Kinky Friedman.

Also, the memoir’s cover reads, “Introduction by Angelina Jolie, with commentary by Robert Duvall, Dwight Yoakam and Tom Epperson.”

Jolie and Thornton said “I do” in 2000 and announced their divorce after three short years. Their brief marriage was filled with peculiar behavior, including wearing vials of each other’s blood and intense PDA. Despite the actors’ failed marriage, the two remain friends.

In 2010, Thornton commented on his ex saying, “We talk every now and then. She seems to be doing very well directing her own movie, which I am so proud of her for. She’s real smart, and very creative, and I think it’s a great job for her.”

After seeing Jolie’s film, In The Land of Blood and Honey, he said, “I thought she did an amazing job. She really dug deep and it meant a lot to her. I’m very, very proud of her.”

Due to their previous and bizarre relationship, it should be interesting to read Jolie’s excerpt.
