Best & Worst Oscar looks from past award shows

With the Oscars right around the corner and with the excitement of which fashion celebrities will be wearing, we at TheCelebrityCafe.com thought it would be a good idea to revisit the best and worst in Oscar fashion throughout the years because let’s face it – the movies aren’t the only buzzed about part of the night!

The red carpet of the Academy Awards is arguably one of the largest platforms actors and actresses have to showcase their style, whether it be on trend for that year or a timeless piece. The photograph from that night is likely to be used over and over again in their career, so it’s important to “get it right.”

Who would pass up the opportunity to wear one-a-kind garment and thousands of dollars worth of jewels to complete your full circle ‘princess’ moment? You would be surprised at how many throw that all away and wear something absolutely ridiculous.

Below we will revisit just who “got it right” and who just plain bombed.

Worst

Helena Bonham Carter, 83rd Annual Academy Awards

Helena Bonham Carter is known for her trademark eclectic style. Though many Brits like her red carpet look choices, this one was an Oscars miss for us at TheCelebrityCafe.com. She arrived on the red carpet wearing round glasses, but kindly took them off when it was time to get photographed. Bonham Carter worked with Colleen Atwood, a costume designer, on this dress. Unfortunately, it seems more like a costume than a red carpet stunner.

Halle Berry, 83rd Annual Academy Awards

Halle Berry’s dress is from the same year as Bonham Carter’s worst dressed look. In comparison, Berry looked angelic in the strapless Marchesa frock complete with a tulle train. She wore the dress flawlessly, as she has arguably one of the best bodies in Hollywood. Her simply earrings complemented the look perfectly.
