There is a new pet in the royal family.
Prince William and Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, adopted a cocker spaniel puppy over the holidays. It was only recent that it was confirmed that William and Kate adopted the puppy, who was photographed walking closely by their sides.
The new puppy is sticking close by Catherine’s side while Prince William is on an Air Force deployment, and it seems he also stays close on her mind. During a solo charity visit, she revealed the name of her new dog.
According to The Telegraph, She visited Rose Hill Primary School in Oxford for an art therapy session run by The Art Room charity. While she was there, children gave her a stuffed dog when they greeted her. She was called “Miss Catherine” during the visit. Kids in the art therapy class are usually shy or have low self-esteem, so they are encouraged to cuddle a soft toy if they’d like, according to the report.
''The children had chosen a dog for her to cuddle during the lesson,” Lisa Hancock, the manager of the art room, told The Telegraph. ”She said 'what's it called?' and we said 'would you like to give it a name?' and she said 'I will call it after my dog,’” she said. “He's called Lupo."
The puppy, who is believed to be four months old, was bred from a pet that belongs to the Duchess’ parents. As for the name, Lupo means “wolf” in Italian.
A source told People, "They liked the name. They like the play on the word for wolf."
