Former Seinfeld star Daniel von Bargen has survived a suicide attempt in which the actor shot himself in the head.

Von Bargen, who played Mr. Kruger in the acclaimed television sitcom, is currently in an Ohio hospital being treated for the self-inflicted wound to his head.

TMZ has the chilling 911 call, during which he tells the operator "I've shot myself in the head ... and I need help."

"I was supposed to go to the hospital and I didn't want to,” he explained, saying "They were supposed to amputate at least a few toes” as a result of being diabetic.

He then tells the operator that he shot himself in the temple.

MSNBC reports that von Bargen used a .38 colt to shoot himself. He also said he was “tired” after having a leg amputated from his disease.

The 911 call features sounds of the police showing up at the actor’s apartment and telling him to keep his hands still.

After Seinfeld, von Bargen went on to have a film career with roles in movies such as Super Troopers and O Brother Where Art Thou. Prior to Seinfeld, he appeared in Basic Instinct.

Von Bargen is being treated at a hospital and is in critical condition.
