Bad news for Gleeks looking to get their fix with a Glee concert this summer -- the group will not be carrying on its two-year summer tour tradition.
"We currently have no plans of touring the cast this summer," a representative for the show told The Hollywood Reporter.
Instead, Glee producers are considering having a benefit concert at the Hollywood Bowl in the fall. The concert will benefit Glee Give A Note, an art education charity, and aim to raise $10 million. However, negotiations for the concert have yet to begin, as the event is still in the works.
The Glee Live! In Concert! tour raised more than $40 million last year alone and also served to benefit Give A Note. The 2011 tour had stops throughout the U.S., Canada, England and Ireland and sold out each of its 40 stops. Those impressive numbers secured the Glee tour the 16th spot of most successful tours of 2011.
Give A Note uses money raised from Glee's DVD and Blu-Ray sales to benefit struggling arts education programs throughout the country.
Future summer tours are unclear, since Glee still needs to be renewed for a fourth season.
Co-creator Ryan Murphy said at the beginning of season 3 that he was working to make sure the cast gets more days off, E! News reported. The cast usually works 16-hour days filming, recording and rehearsing for Glee.
Last year, 14 members of the cast were contractually obligated to participate in the summer tour. Rehearsals began shortly after filming the second season and the tour ended just before filming of the third season began.
