Pop star Katy Perry has already successfully conquered the music scene, and now she’s well on her way to becoming one of the most sought after personalities to make a cameo on television shows.
She’s already made an appearance on How I Met Your Mother, and now she will be on Raising Hope.
According to E! Online, Perry is slated to appear on the March 6 episode of the show, thanks to her good friend Shannon Woodward.
"Shannon Woodward is my best friend," Perry said in a statement, according to E! Online. "A couple weeks ago, I was home, just toasting up a frozen chicken fillet when she called me up and asked if I wanted to do something ‘fun' for a change and try out a guest role on her TV show. I thought, ‘Sure, I have nothing else to do, and I like chillin' with my best friend.'
She continued, “[Showrunner] Greg [Garcia] was nice, but I hope he's not secretly sabotaging my potential future career by typecasting me in the role ofjust a looker, so that I would never be able to play anything more challenging."
Garcia also commented on the “California Gurls” singer making an appearance on the show.
"Shannon Woodward told me that her friend Katy was interested in doing an episode and I thought, ‘Why not? Let's do your friend Katy a favor,'" Garcia joked in the statement. "Then she came in and did a terrific job. She was hilarious. And now people are telling me that Katy is also a singer. I sincerely hope that her appearance on the show helps her get her singing career off the ground. It's a tough business."
Reuters reports that Perry will play Nikki, a prison attendant. She is forced to overlook Sabrina (played by Woodward) after she gets arrested, whom she claims is a long lost friend. Nikki wants to make Sabrina’s time in prison as horrible as possible until she reflects on the good times they have had.
