Lindsay Lohan is trying to get back on the road to success. She has already landed a hosting gig for Saturday Night Live and now has finally won the part of Elizabeth Taylor in a Lifetime movie about the legendary actress' relationship with actor Richard Burton.
A source told Access Hollywood that Lohan will get to play Taylor only if she can continue to follow the law. Another source confirmed the news to Earsucker, also saying that, as long as Lohan can follow the requirements of her probation, she can play the part.
Lohan has been connected to the role in the tele-film, now titled Liz and Dick, since January. It had been reported that it was titled Elizabeth & Richard: A Love Story and that former Transformers star Megan Fox was also interested in playing Taylor.
Producer Larry Thompson is set to direct the project, which began development back in May, 2011. There has been no word on who will play Burton or when Lifetime will air the film.
As MTV News notes, Lohan has been making several recent attempts to get her career back on track as she continues to follow her probation requirements. The restrictions should be lifted by March, just in time to let her go to New York to host SNL on March 3. She appeared in Playboy in December and has not been in a film since 2010’s Machete, in which she had a supporting part. Access Hollywood notes that she last acted on TV in a 2009 movie called Labor Pains.
Her next court date is Wednesday.
