New mom Mariah Carey appeared on Good Morning America on Tuesday and talked about her state of turmoil over the death of Whitney Houston over a week after it happened.

Carey reveals she’s so distraught about the passing of Houston that she is still having trouble speaking about it.

"I'm almost incapable of talking about this still," she explained to host Robin Roberts, E! Online reports, "It's very heavy emotionally."

Carey attended this past weekend’s ceremony at New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey for the late “I Will Always Love You” singer. She called it “gorgeous and beautiful.”

Carey and Houston collaborated together in 1998 on the song “When You Believe,” which was a huge hit, so Carey revealed she was very “moved” by the ceremony.

“There was always this supposed rivalry in the beginning," she said. "Then we did the duet and we became friends. I loved her. We all loved her. We were all inspired by her and may she rest in peace. Her legend will go on forever."

Extra TV reports that Carey also said she doesn’t “think people could ever understand our relationship.”
