Rihanna may have been able to move forward with Chris Brown, despite the fact that he physically assaulted her in 2009, even recently collaborating with him on a remix of her single, “Birthday Cake,” but Miranda Lambert isn’t having any of that.
ABC News reported the country singer told fans at her Amherst, Massachusetts concert Thursday that she is not pleased with all the more positive press Brown has been receiving lately.
"I just have to speak my mind, because where I come from, beating up on a woman is never OK. So that's why my daddy taught me early on in life how to use a shotgun," she said, the crowd cheering her in support.
According to Us Weekly, Lambert’s support of domestic violence is far more deep than just a statement at a concert.
In a July 2011 special titled Behind the Music, the 28-year-old said that when she was a child, her family took in a woman that was a victim of domestic abuse and that the experience exposed her to how painful and distraught a situation it can be.
Blake Shelton’s wife also took to her Twitter to talk about how disgruntled she was with Brown’s Best R&B Album Grammy win.
"Chris Brown twice? I don't get it. He beat on a girl...Not cool that we act like that didn't happen. He needs to listen to "Gunpowder and Lead" and be put back in his place. Not at the Grammys," she wrote.
Brown responded to Lambert’s tweet a few days later in a pretty immature, condescending manner.
"Using my name to get publicity? I love it! Perform your heart out! Go buy Miranda Lambert album! So motivational and 'PERFECT'!" he wrote.
What do you think about Chris Brown? Should he be a little more apologetic or has he paid his dues?
