Fox’s Glee had been seeing its ratings and audience numbers slipping in recent weeks, but Tuesday night’s winter finale finally saw some growth. However, it was simply not enough to top CBS’ ratings juggernaut, NCIS.
CBS scored an easy victory, dominating every hour of the night. The network averaged 15.3 million viewers and a 2.9 18-49 rating, according to Zap2It. NCIS had another big night, drawing 19.55 million viewers and a 3.8 18-49 rating, easily making it the night’s most-watched show. NCIS: LA continued the trend, getting 15.9 million viewers, but its 2.9 18-49 rating was lower than Fox’s New Girl. Unforgettable hit a series low, drawing a 1.9 18-49 rating, notes Deadline. Still, it drew 10.6 million viewers.
Fox came in a very distant second place, drawing less than half the amount of CBS’ viewers. It drew just 6.5 million viewers and a 2.8 18-49 rating. Glee started with 7.4 million viewers and a 2.9 18-49 rating, which was a 4 percent jump from last week, according to The Hollywood Reporter.New Girl had 6.25 million viewers and a 3.0 18-49 rating, the best for the 9 p.m. hour. Raising Hope was up to 4.85 million viewers and a 1.7 18-49 rating, notes Hit Fix.
NBC managed to come in third with 6.08 million viewers and a 2.1 18-49 rating. The first hour of The Biggest Loser drew 6.37 million viewers, while the second drew 6.95 million. Overall, it had a 2.3 18-49 rating, its best since early January. Parenthood was also up slightly to a 1.7 18-49 rating and 4.9 million viewers.
ABC fell to fourth, thanks to poor performances from The River and Cougar Town. However, Last Man Standing had a decent start, drawing 7.45 million viewers and a 2.2 18-49 rating. Cougar Town dropped from its low-rated season premiere to 4.45 million viewers and a 1.7 18-49 rating. The River fell to 4.8 million viewers and a 1.7 18-49 rating, while Body of Proof climbed 17 percent to a 1.4 18-49 rating and 6.5 million viewers.
The CW’s repeat of Hart of Dixie and new episode of Ringer averaged 1.2 million viewers and a 0.5 18-49 rating.
