Daniel von Bargen, of Seinfeld and Malcolm in the Middle fame, is in critical condition after a failed attempt to commit suicide.

The Wrap reported the 61-year-old actor shot himself in the head Monday then called 911 from his Cincinnati, Ohio apartment.

According to E! Online, von Bargen told the 911 dispatcher about his self-inflicted wound and asked that an ambulance be sent to his apartment.

When the ambulance arrived at his home, the actor was taken to Bethesda North Hospital. The police and the fire department were also at his home.

The website was able to obtain a copy of the 911 call, in which von Bargen said he wanted to kill himself after doctors told him he needed to undergo a surgery that would amputate several of his toes.

"I've shot myself in the head and I need help," he is heard saying.

The dispatcher then asks if it was an accident, and von Bargen said, “No, I was supposed to go to the hospital today and I didn't want to, so I shot myself but it didn't work."

The Law and Order and The West Wing actor also said his two sisters, who lived nearby, were supposed to stop by in the morning.

Let’s hope he gets better soon.
