Taylor Swift and former High School Musical star Zac Efron have been linked as a couple in the media, but the two appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to promote their film Dr. Suess’ The Lorax and prove that they can sing a mean duet.
During filming of their movie, the country singer had taught her co-star how to play the guitar, which they put to good use on Ellen.
Entertainment Weekly reports that Swift told DeGeneres “He had like one lesson,” adding, “And he was good at it! I taught him how to play ‘Pumped Up Kicks’ by Foster the People.”
They then got some guitars and broke out in song.
E! Online reports that Swift also explained to the new J.C. Penney spokeswoman that she is not dating Vanessa Hudgens’ ex.
"We are not a couple," she said, "He's awesome, but we are not a couple."
They are clearly good friends, because when Efron just played one chord, Swift was quick to cheer him on and say “It sounds so good!”
When Swift and Efron played the song for DeGeneres, they switched up the lyrics to cater to the daytime talk show host.
They sing “Every single time I come on this show it’s really weird, really weird.”
