With awards season in full throttle, it’s hard to turn on your TV over any given day and not catch an awards show on. Whether you stay tuned to see the glitz and glam of Hollywood on the red carpet, care to see which nominees win, or just like to watch to see who performs and presents, these top 10 award shows are recommended either way:
10. BET Hip-Hop Awards
The BET Hip-Hop Awards, a pre-recorded event which takes place in Atlanta, Georgia, is an awards show that broadcasts the achievements of various hip-hop artists, producers, music video directors, and all things alike.
9. Tony Awards
The Tony Awards is an annual star-studded affair that takes place in New York City in honor of celebrating achievements in live Broadway theater. Usually held at the Radio City Music Hall, last year’s show took place at the Beacon Theatre and will once again return there for The 66th Annual Tony Awards ceremony to be held on June 10 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
8. Kids Choice Awards
The Kids Choice Awards, presented by Nickelodeon, is a kid-friendly awards show that celebrates achievements in TV, movie and music. This year, the KCAs will be hosted by Will Smith during a live telecast on March 31 at 8 p.m. Who do you want to see get slimed this year?
7. Academy of Country Music Awards
The Academy of Country Music Awards is an awards show that honors musical talent in country music. This year will mark the 47th Annual ACM Awards show, hosted by Blake Shelton and Reba, live from Las Vegas. The event will air on Apr. 1 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
6. Screen Actors Guild Awards
The Screen Actors Guild Awards, more commonly known as the SAG Awards, is an awards show that “exclusively” honors the achievements of individual and ensemble performances and those performances done by film and television stunt ensembles. The SAGs air live on TNT and TBS.
5. MTV Movie Awards
The MTV Movie Awards honor outstanding performances in film. At this awards show, the stage is crowded with actors, actresses, singers, comedians and various talents in Hollywood.
4. Teen Choice Awards
The Teen Choice Awards is another kid-friendly awards show that airs on Fox and honors achievements in music, fashion, TV, film and other categories.
3. MTV Video Music Awards
The MTV Video Music Awards, commonly known as the VMAs, is another big night (in addition to the Grammys) of celebrating music. This awards ceremony airs live every year from different locations. You might remember, this is the awards show in which Beyonce revealed she was pregnant, while performing!

The Grammy Awards, “music’s biggest night,” is just that. Stars come out to celebrate each other’s accomplishments in the world of music. This year, over Grammy weekend, we lost a musical icon, the late Whitney Houston.

The Academy Awards is one of the most prestigious and classiest affairs celebrating outstanding achievements in the film industry. This awards show, held on Sunday’s, is also widely called “Oscar Sunday.”
