Cate Blanchett is 'frightened' by cosmetic surgery

The actress reveals her 'old-fashioned' skincare routine

Unlike most women in her profession, Cate Blanchett is a simple gal who sticks to a simple beauty regimen. So, why does a celebrity who has the money to go wild with various skin treatments and plastic surgery not splurge here and there? Blanchett recently admitted to having a fear of the risky procedures.

Actress Cate Blanchett arriving at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards held at Kodak Theatre on February 27 2011 in Hollywood, California.

“There’s been a decade or probably more of people doing interventions on their faces and their bodies, and now people are seeing that [in the] long term, it’s not so great,” the actress told Fashion ETC.

“I’d just be too frightened about what it means long-term. Looking at women in their 20s doing this stuff, in the end all you see is the work. It doesn’t fill me with admiration; it fills me with pity,” Blanchett continued.

If the gorgeous Aussie has not had any work done, how is she a vision of perfection at her age? Well, for starters, she regularly applies sunscreen and tries to avoid a large dosing of the sun. Hence her beautiful fare skin.

Blanchett has also been the face of the Japanese skincare brand, SK-II, for 10 years and is a devoted user of their products.

“I’ve been using it for a long time,” she said. “A friend of mine, a makeup artist in London, put me on to it…It’s about consistency.”

In addition to sunscreen and her SK-II skin routine, she uses emu oil and Paw Paw Ointment for an extra surge of moisture. Blanchett also pampers herself every once in a while with an oxygen facial.

Well there you have it! Now you know that great skin is possible without having to binge on nips and tucks!
