Singer Cee Lo Green announced Friday that he plans on doing a series of shows in Las Vegas at Planet Hollywood.
In an interview with The Las Vegas Review-Journal, the singer said that he will begin a residency at the Planet Hollywood theater on Aug. 28. He plans on performing at least 28 shows under his “Loberace” alter ego. “Loberace” will also serve as the title of the show, which will be as over-the-top as one might expect from Green.
"I have a confession to make...I don't think I've ever said this before. But the Grammy performance with the Muppets, the flying piano, the video for 'I Want You' ... all these things have been to motivate the prospects and talks about coming to Vegas,” Green told the paper.
According to E! News, the press announcement for the shows described it as “part dance party, part live intimate concert.” The announcement also says that the Loberace shows will feature Green taking his audience on a “ride through the colorful decades of music, stopping at legendary moments in time, from Prince to Blue Magic to the Rolling Stones, new wave to disco and beyond.”
For those fans nervous that he might not perform his biggest hits, including “Forget You” and Gnarles Barkely’s “Crazy,” the announcement promises that those hits will be included with plenty of showgirls, pyrotechnics and all the extravagances one expects from a Vegas show.
It has not been announced when the tickets will go on sale, The Associated Press reports.
Green, who is currently a judge on NBC’s The Voice, debuted his “Loberace” alter ego in the video for “I Want You (Hold On To Love)” and is a tribute to Liberace. You can see that video below:
Green joins a list of other major stars who have set up shows in Vegas, including Celine Dion, Elton John and Carlos Santana.
