Christie Brinkley’s four years of conflict with her ex-husband Peter Cook has taken its toll on the celebrated model.
On the Today show Tuesday, Brinkley, 58, discussed the conflict with Matt Lauer, along with her return to Broadway in Chicago.
The discussion, however, became more about Cook, which led to Brinkley crying. Cook, who was married to Brinkley for 12 years, has denounced her in the media recently.
"I have turned the other cheek," Brinkley said. "There's not one quote from me, anywhere. This is the first time I've ever been on a show (to talk about the split)."
Cook also reportedly pays $600 a month for each of their children, although he claims the amount is double the court requirement.
"It's a very minimal amount of money," she said. "And it wasn't (about) the money. I have hesitated to do anything with the court because he actually likes the publicity and he likes going to court."
She also stated that she implemented a no-contact rule for the sake of her children. However, Cook has remained persistent.
“He continues to contact me and that's the problem. So I quietly ask the judge to make this work. Protect my right to peace,” she tearfully told Lauer. "Sorry but I just want peace and every time I have any joy or any kind of success in anything he has to try to destroy it."
