Lindsay Lohan will make a guest appearance on Fox’s Glee. Lohan has been cast to play herself in a May episode of the popular musical drama series.
TV Line first reported the news Tuesday. Lohan will star as a celebrity judge at Nationals, a role that celebrities like Josh Groban and Olivia Newton-John have performed in the past. Fox confirmed to the site that she is in talks to star in the season finale.
Later, a representative for Lohan confirmed that she will appear in Glee to E! News.
Lohan’s casting might come as a bit of a surprise, since Glee has made Lohan the butt of a joke on the show in the past. E! News notes that Dina Lohan, Lohan’s mother, once criticized the show’s producers for a scene where Katie Couric told Sue Sylvester that she had to beat Lohan’s mother and their dog to get on the top of the list of the biggest losers in the world. “It's a shame as the dance numbers are amazing, but the writers need to be nice and more creative as opposed to being hurtful,” Dina told E! at the time.
Clearly, that didn't matter to Lohan, who is a fan of the show. “Lindsay loves the show. She thinks the cast is incredibly talented, and is excited to become part of the show,” publicist Steve Honig told ABC News.com.
Lohan’s casting was reported just hours after it was confirmed that Whoopi Goldberg will also make a guest appearance on the show, starring in three episodes in May.
The Glee role will be another stop on Lohan’s path to getting back to regular work, which started with her Saturday Night Live hosting gig, as her legal troubles seem to be over. According to The New York Daily News, Judge Stephanie Sautner is expected to put Lohan on non-reporting probation, which will not be affected by the hit-and-run case, which the D.A. said they are not pursuing.
Lohan will also play Elizabeth Taylor in a Lifetime television movie called Liz & Dick.
